Rapid-Line is a leading metal fabrication and innovative contract manufacturing company in Grand Rapid, Michigan. We are seeking to add to our growing team. We are currently interviewing for a Sales Engineer. This self-starter must be highly sales-oriented and is expected to integrate a business plan and forecast with company objectives for the year. In conjunction with the time spent in the sales area, this individual must be able to represent the Customer’s interests in account’s jobs through the manufacturing facility as well as be responsible for billing and associated internal communication.
Job Responsibilities include:
Manage all applicable account activity from order entry to final billing and assist in the collection of receivables.
Present and work to a sales/marketing plan of his/her own design in light of the company goals and sales quotas for the year.
Regularly solicit new business to realize at least a 10% expansion in Customer annual sales volume while maintaining desired profitability goals.
Submit pricing according to Customer request for quotation, maintain a recording of these quotes and provide feedback to management of the quoting activity.
Occasional involvement in special projects related to marketing, sales, manufacturing or engineering.
Regularly visit and establish a positive rapport with his/her Customers so he/she is able to interact with the Customers’ key personnel.
Pre-screen Customer engineering documentation to get from the Customer all the details and specifications our people need to properly quote or manufacture the job.
Build Customer trust and confidence in our value-added activities to bring in more design to finished product projects.
Submit an annual sales/marketing budget and be accountable for keeping expenses at or below budget.
Responsible for the costing of time and material jobs, certain small or short run jobs and working with Customers to interpret appropriate level of pricing and run quantities.
Supply appropriate sales call reports, mileage expenses and monthly expenses as specified by the organization’s policy.
Meet with manufacturing and materials management personnel on a regular basis to determine the optimum manufacturing schedule to yield 100% on-time delivery.
Direct input into all marketing decisions regarding his/her area of expertise and is expected to be major contributor to new marketing ideas and projects.
Work closely with the quality assurance staff to maintain the highest degree of Customer product quality as well as handle any quality problems that may arise wit his/her particular account base. Must strive at all times to meet the Customer’s quality goals off 100%
Coordinate engineering with the Customers’ staff from time to time to redesign or develop a new product.
Coordinate and prepare the sales agenda for the monthly staff measures review meetings.
Skills and Abilities:
Conduct all Customer activities in the utmost degree of ethical behavior and honesty.
Able to work well under pressure.
Good mathematical aptitude, writing skills and presentation abilities.
Organizational skills and ability to keep accurate records and files.
Able to work with a variety of personalities and maintain open lines of communication.
Able to contribute to a positive work environment and be an effective leader in the company’s team efforts.
Able to educate other personnel to new policies and the areas for improvement.
Able and willing to develop new skills as required to keep up to date with current technology and latest developments in the sales/marketing field.
Able to work well with his/her accounts and to work toward established goals.
Able to establish product pricing policy and to be accountable for profit contribution.
Able to coordinate the activities of others in his/her product line responsibilities.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business and/or Engineering.
5-10 years of industry experience.
Knowledge of manufacturing, metal fabrication and office furniture a plus.
